This website forms part of a recent project undertaken at the Archives of the Institute of Education, University of London, and supported by the National Lottery through the Heritage Lottery Fund. The eight month project has included the electronic cataloguing of four deposited archival collections (over 33,000 items in total) to current archival standards. These collections relate directly to the rebuilding of education in Germany after the Second World War and provide a fascinating insight into conditions in post-war Europe. The collections consist of organisational records, academic and personal papers, correspondence, publications, photographs, cuttings and ephemera dating from 1939 - 1958.
Use this site to find out more about the collections, the history and philosophy of education, and Anglo-German relations during the 1940s and 1950s. Please note that the full catalogues of the collections are not yet available on-line. For access to the catalogues and the documents themselves please contact the Archivist of the Institute of Education, University of London.
