The Moot Papers

The Moot papers were deposited in the Institute Library by Louis Arnaud Reid (Professor of the Philosophy of Education, Institute of Education, 1947-1962) when he retired. They had originally come into the possession of the Institute via Fred Clarke.

The Collection contains Sir Fred Clarke's set of the circulated discussion papers, notes on discussions with covering letters from J H Oldham, 1939-1942 and an autograph letter signed by T S Elliot to Fred Clarke 1941; also an incomplete run of the Christian News-Letter, 1939-1949.

Some of the Moot records are amongst the papers of J H Oldham deposited at New College Library, University of Edinburgh. However, the Institute of Education holding of Fred Clarke's Moot papers is unique because of his annotations.
